Timber Stand at Jubliee College State Park

Timber Stand at Jubilee College State Park

This is not a new image but one you’ll see below without any post processing in Photoshop Elements 6.  I decided to see what it would look like with a few processing modifications.  I’m not one to due a lot if I feel it isn’t necessary.  This was more for the enjoyment of it and to give it a more artsy profile.

Another Deer Story…Without Images

My grand-daughter came out of volleyball practice the other evening about dusk.  The road she takes to go home is in the city…right outside the front door of her school.  There are subdivisions everywhere.  A farmer’s field runs parallel to the road home and two nights ago she was stunned to see 17 deer foraging out in the field.  17!   She’s seen small groups of up to five in the past but this was a herd.  One end  of the farmer’s field runs into a main thoroughfare through town and the other end falls off into the woods.  Deer in Illinois have become use to seeing people near their feeding and bedding grounds but it never ceases to amaze me when a herd of this size is spotted.  We often see them in and around our golf courses also…not to mention in our yards once in a while as I posted in an earlier post.  East Peoria and Peoria are separated by the Illinois River and the deer are at home both sides of the river.   NEAT, huh!

Caesar and Sheba sacked out on the Couch

Caesar and Sheba sacked out on the sofa2

I took  this image when, Caesar, our daughter and son-in-law’s cat was visiting for a few days.  Unfortunately, those of you who follow my blog know, Sheba, passed away a few months later.  She was 19 years old and a very loving companion for my wife and I.  Caesar, now almost blind, is able to get around the way animals sense of their immediate surroundings allows, seems to know where everything is in his home.  He never runs into anything and jumps up on the sofa and bed as if he could see as well as before his troubles set in a couple years ago.

Deer in Neighbor’s Front Yard

Deer in Neighbors Yard

I took this image of the doe through my front window ( a NO! NO!) or otherwise I would never have captured her.  This happened in the fall of 2009 if my mind serves me correctly.  I ran for the camera and when I came back she was still there so I took the shot.  I put the camera away and came back to the front window and there were four deer standing in my front yard.  Keep in mind, as my followers know, I live in the city but near wooded areas and deer a plentiful in Central Illinois.  Still don’t expect to see them in your front yard.  The four ran off as soon as one notice me watching her.  If it’s a little fuzzy you know why.
