The Last Diesel Through Peoria Heights, Illinois

I have the Last Train Through Peoria Heights on Flickr but thought you might be interested.  The Bicycle and Walking Trail have replaced the Train Tracks.  My wife and I can walk right off the back of our property directly onto the track.  Many folks are taking advantage of the track daily, summer and winter, and someone is always walking by or zooming by on their bicycle.  When I was a boy some of us would hop the train and go to school as the tracks ran right below the school in the center of Peoria Heights.  We weren’t terribly bright at the time in our lives.

What’s planted here?

I took this image on 11/10/2012.  Whatever is planted here certainly cheers up an otherwise dreary, early winter day.

What are you lookin at, bud?

I took this image from inside my car as it was a bit rainy outside…the window was down of course…anyway, these Cattle have an under-the-roadway tunnel they go through, single file, to get to a large pasture that sets across the country road from their barn…it’s pretty neat to see them walking out of the tunnel.  I’ll get a shot one day after I meet the farmer.

Nature Center Bedding Area during Summer Months

This area has been a spot where Deer bed down during the summer months.  The grass is quite thick and tall in this spot.  Oddly enough it’s near to the spot where two trails cross.   During the winter months we often see the deer bedded down up on the hillsides that surround the lower meadows. This image was shot by my wife at The Forest Park Nature Center in Peoria Heights, Illinois.
