Our Snowy Backyard

PSX_20181222_083823_wm

I shot this image a few weeks ago and added a touch of Photoshop Express.  It was both a snowy and frosty morning.

Spring in the Backyard – Touched Up

IMG_20170823_163735

I shot and posted this image earlier but brought it back up for a little work.  Particularly the Flowering Crab and Daisy Plants.

Foggy Spring Morning

tmp_20170815211233_wm

I believe this was shot in the Spring of 2016 but perhaps this Spring. Remember, my Point and Shoot’s date and time stamp feature has stopped working.  It’s set, forever, on December 1979.

The Last Train through Town

I shot this image, the last train through Peoria Heights, Illinois, on May 9th, 2009.  I posted it back then but it was lost when I lost my hard drive – fortunately, not all the images.  My IT Guru recovered many of them for me.

The train engineer, shown in the image, told me, “this is it, the last diesel or any other train that’ll ever be seen on this track. He was correct.  The Peoria Park District purchased the right of way, or made some agreement with the railroad, however that’s done, and the rest is history.  As most of you know, the area is now a bicycle/walking track.  Right off the back of our property.

Landscaping – always a continuing process

Landscaping_wm

We have been doing some landscaping over the past years.  Just beyond our fence is the bicycle/walking/jogging track developed and laid by our Park District.  My wife, Jean, with the help of one of our daughter’s, Stephanie, get all the credit here. The work in progress,  the upper left of the image, is a Trumpet Vine.  The large trellis has yet to be fastened to the fence.  It’s attached to a smaller trellis with green garden tape/velcro at this point.

A Bed of Purple, Creeping Phlox

This bed of Creeping Phlox is in our backyard flower garden.  Notice how it is creeping in between the stones.

January 8th, 2016 – Our Backyard

unusal-early-january-in-central-illinois_wm

This was our backyard, during the day, on January 8th, 2016.  It snowed that night.  I wonder what it will look like on January 8th, 2017.

Central Illinois’ first snow could come as early as Sunday, December 5th.

Frosty Backyard

a-frosty-backyard_edited-1_wm

A couple weeks ago we had a frost that lightly painted the back yard.  As you can see the sun was coming up so it did not last long.

My wife, Jean, grooming our Feral Cat, Muffin

my-wife-jean-grooming-our-feral-cat-muffin_edited-1_wm

Jean grooms Muffin when she can.  Sometimes Muffin walks or scurries away, but today she just plopped down and enjoyed the attention.  She’ll roll over, stretch out, or even lie on her side.  She often moves forward as she’s being groomed but always close to the ground.  She had a burr in her tail here and didn’t mind having it removed at all.  Jean didn’t know I was taking the picture but she’s a good sport and was OK with me posting this.  Muffin couldn’t have cared less.

Double Rainbow

Double Rainbow_edited-1

I’m trying this upload again.  Anyway, yesterday this this double rainbow appeared after a number lightning strikes and thunder, but very lite rain.

Sorry a few of you actually got the bad post…it had my right hand menu down the center of the image instead of where it belongs.

Backyard in early Spring 2015

image

I shot this image of our backyard a few days ago.  Everything is greening up and/or blooming.  The Lilac Bush on the left and the Flowering Crab on the right will soon lose all of their flowers and be leafy green until the fall.  Over the years the high voltage poles in the background have rusted somewhat which adds an earthy color (if you will) to the shot. That is a bed of Creeping Phlox in the foreground.
