He was just finished eating a seed when he raised up for this image.  The Sparrow just happened to be feeding also.

Spring is coming to the Midwest

IMG_20180421_070437

Backyard Flowers, Bushes and Trees are budding – in some cases flowers are blooming –  throughout the Midwest.  The Squirrel thinks so!  The grass is greening up quickly and a few neighbors have already mowed even though it’s very early in the season.

Cardnals gathering at the Feeder Tree

IMG_20180225_050840

It was really snowing this day and the Cardinals were gathering in strength at the feeder.  At one time I counted eighteen!  I realize it’s hard to see them as the snow was really coming down.

This pretty gal seems to be taking everything in around our feeder.  The feeder is actually below and to her right.

Ribbon Grass Opens Overnight

Ribbon Grass opens overnight_edited-1_wm

The Ribbon Grass Plumes on this grass, in our front yard, appeared this morning.  Yesterday, as night fell, the plumes were only about half the size you see here.  Nature has a way of presenting in her own way.

I shot and posted this image earlier but brought it back up for a little work.  Particularly the Flowering Crab and Daisy Plants.

Praying Mantis on the side of our Garage

Praying Mantis on Garage Wall_edited-1_wm

I couldn’t believe it when I saw him.  He’s three to four inches long.  Biggest one I’ve seen in years.  The picture doesn’t really represent his size.  He was giving me the once over, I’ll tell you.

I shot this in June of 2016.  I love to shoot in light and shadow. I was standing in our street.
