Illinois River Valley 2013 Enhanced

A few weeks ago I loaded this image.  Yesterday I discovered an editing program called, “Aviary,” (it’s free) and was astounded at its strength.  My original post didn’t even show the grass in the lower left hand corner…let alone its color.  It sharpened the picture and allowed me to bring forth greater color and tone.  For my friends, this editing program is for phones and tablets.  “I am not being paid to push this program!”

I captured this image last evening as a storm was passing through Central Illinois.

Orange Skyline at Dusk

Over the years I’ve posted skyline images when they really jump out at me.  A couple weeks ago, when we still had a bit of snow – there is no snow here now and none expected throughout January – again the sky lit up around dusk.  Hope you enjoy!

Illinois River Valley from Grandview Drive Overlook

This is just one of four images I took yesterday from the Grandview Drive Overlook in Peoria Heights, Illinois.  I took the shots about noon, not a recommended time for light of course, but I wanted a hazy, distant look up the river valley.

The river snakes its way up the valley mile after mile and from this image, an illusion of sorts, you’d think the woodland runs right up to the river.  There is actually a road beyond the tree line and even homes across the road. There are some areas along the valley where the river does run right up to where it is so close to the river road nothing could be built.  There wasn’t a cloud in the sky when I took this so I reduced the sky view to what you see here.

Day is breaking over the Garage

I captured this image a few mornings ago just as the light was dawning. I had turned away after opening the curtain and then realized what I was seeing so I went for my Canon Point and Shoot…Power Shot A590 IS.
