A good morning for finding seeds in the snow. “We are expecting as much as nine inches by midnite tonight.”

Mid-October Snow

Mid October Snow_edited-1

I’ve been around for 75 years and I’ve never seen it snow in Mid-October in Peoria County, Illinois.  It was 42 degrees at ground level so it must have been really cold up in the sky for the snow to reach ground level.  It did not stick but it was a sight to see.

Last week our neighborhood was left with a  blanket of  snow.

Well, when it snows it sure changes your perspective, doesn’t it?

Male Cardinal in Study

IMG_20171230_182420_wm

In January 2014 I posted this image and thought it would be a good way to finish out 2017 – many of you really enjoyed his peaceful posture and apparent disregard for the winter weather.

Two Female Cardinals resting between feedings

I took this image a couple of years ago.  Did a bit of work in Aviary to sharpenen it best I could.  It’s still a bit fuzzy looking due to falling snow.

A Snowy Morning

About a week ago we received two or three inches of snow.  I grabbed my camera and was about to shoot the image when the car suddenly came into the shot.  Go figure?

A Touch of Snow

I shot this image about a week ago.  There was just enough snow to cover the ground.  I shot this with my Canon Powershot A590 IS.

A Daughter in Winter

01052014806-002

Our daughter from Texas came to visit during the winter of 2014 – said she’d never come back in the winter again.  I let her use one of my parkas when she and my wife went for a walk in the snow.

4:10 PM… “I MUST BE LOSING IT!  HAD TO CHANGE THE TITLE OF MY POST.”

The snow started at 6:55 AM this morning, November 4th, 2016, and it’s now 12:55 PM –  and still snowing.  Expecting 1-3 inches and then it will melt later due to temperature rising.  It’s wet!  I kind of goofed up the last image.  Cut the bottom off.
