Male Cardinal Ground Feeding

He was just finished eating a seed when he raised up for this image.  The Sparrow just happened to be feeding also.

Sparrows on the Feeder

Catching three Sparrows feeding at once is pretty unusual. If the odd one out – on the left – would have been feeding as well I might have an award winning image.😏🤔

Sparrows Ground Feeding

These Sparrows were enjoying the banquet that had fallen from the Feeder.  My wife, Jean, fills the Feeder and within an hour it’s empty.  Sparrows, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Chicakadees and Juncos all enjoy the bounty. Oh yes, one persistent Starling usually shows up.

Two Sparrows and a Red Blur

Cardinal about to land on the Feeder_edited-1

I was using my Canon PowerShot A590 and focusing on the two Sparrows when I took this shot.  Just as I snapped the shot the Male Cardinal zoomed to the feeder.  Not being my DSLR the A590 didn’t automatically switch to also bring the Cardinal into focus.  I still thought it was kind of neat..just a blur. (Actually the upper Sparrow is also bit out of focus.)

Sparrows in the Morning Light

Sparrows in the Moring Light_edited-1I captured this image a few mornings ago just as the Sun was shedding some of it’s light on our Sparrows waiting for the Bird Feeder to be filled.

Sparrows on the Feeder

Sparrows are familiar birds to most everyone.  Sometimes I know there are at least 40, maybe 50 at our two feeders at one time. If the majority are feeding on the ground beneath the feeders and something spooks them they’ll fly off in a Whoooooooosh!  Sounds somewhat like a covey of Quail taking wing.
I’ll be posting numerous bird and squirrel images this winter.  Generally, I’ll be using my Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 II Zoom lens.  I’ve had it for years … used it with my Canon EOS Elan film camera, which I still use once in a while, before getting my Canon T3 DSLR.
