Grey Squirrels Feeding in the Snow

how we love the snow_edited-1_wm

A good morning for finding seeds in the snow. “We are expecting as much as nine inches by midnite tonight.”

This Grey Squirrel was feeding contently when I captured his image. He’s a bit dark but still a handsome little fella.

Artie the curious Squirrel

art-the-curious-squirrel-_wm

I shot this image many years ago.  I found it in my archives this morning and, if recollection is correct, I posted it a long time ago.  I subseqently lost my hard drive to a virus and thought the image was lost forever.  I don’t know if any of you ever saw the original post or not…anyway, you’re seeing him now!  “Artie was a pieceawork.”  He came around for a couple years and was always looking for peanuts.

Arty, the Brown Squirrel.

Arty, the Brown Squirrel_edited-1

Arty has been through it.  He’s been involved in a few scrapes but keeps hanging around.  He used to be, “Top Dog,” in the neighborhood, but lately he seems to have taken a back seat to another, younger male that’s been hanging around.  We wish him good luck.

This little fella looks as if he’s been sent ahead on a mission.  Whatever,  he appears to be on to something.

Male Cardinal and Black Squirrel Feeding

image

It’s unusual to get just one Male Cardinal and a Black Squirrel at the feeder without other birds and squirrels feeding at the same time.  The Black Squirrel had not been around for a couple weeks.  This particular Male Cardinal is always at the feeder.  The squirrel is so dark he can appear as a shadow much of the time – when the sun isn’t directly on him.

The Black Squirrel – What a Rascal

image

I hesitated to post this image.  As you can see it is not very good. But, everything around it is in focus.  He was standing still when I started the shot with my Canon PowerShot A590IS but he moved as I pushed down the shutter button.  The one good thing that came from this was the fact his back legs are up and under him.

Squirrel Picnic – Everyone’s Welcome

image

This little gathering is not unusual at our feeders.  The Black Squirrel gets along well with the other Grey Squirrels. Sometimes the Black one can look like a blur.
