JUST CHECKING IN

It’ been a while since I last posted.  I do plan to load a few images, available via PayPal, as I stated in my last post.  It has just been kind of slow around here lately.

I shot these dangling, Blue Bells, on June 2nd, 2016. They were growing along the bicycle/walking track behind our home.

Our Blooming Back Yard

Blooming Back Yard_edited-1_wm

I took this image of our, blooming back yard, yesterday afternoon. Kindly enlarge to see the Daffodils is their glory.  Interestinly enoigh, the Flowering Crab’s Red Flowers started to open after this shot was taken.  I’ll load them later.

Wild Flowers along the Track

These Wild Flowers appear to be Blue Bells but they do not have the obvious Blue Bell shape.  Perhaps one of you will know?  My wife and I were walking our neighborhood walking/bicycle track when we came upon them.

This is what Summer looks like in the Backyard

Well, I found this image in my archive…it won’t win the National Geographic Image of the Year Award, I know.  All photography isn’t about being perfect … some is just fun!

Clubhouse at Forest Park Nature Center

IMG_1337-1For years residents of Center Illinois, and in particular, Peoria Heights where the Center is located, have enjoyed quiet walks and all the wildlife that have found the Nature Center home.  My wife and I live, as the crow flies, about one mile dead west from the Nature Center.  Two of the major animal and bird families located at the Center are Turkeys and Deer.

Today my neighbor said, his neighbor one home up the street was amazed to look into his back yard and see wild turkeys.  Some on the ground and a least one on the roof of their outdoor storage shed.  We’ve all had deer roam through our yards but never turkeys until now…as far as I know.

Walking throught the Woodland

This walking bridge is located a few hundred yards from the Illinois River and  snakes its way along for a few hundred yards through the woodland.  It’s marshy and water can come up to and beyond the bridge.  There’s a small park at one end of the walkway and boat ramps and a parking lot at the other.  I added a bit of tint to the surface, for fun, using Photoshop Elements 6.

The Last Diesel Through Peoria Heights, Illinois

I have the Last Train Through Peoria Heights on Flickr but thought you might be interested.  The Bicycle and Walking Trail have replaced the Train Tracks.  My wife and I can walk right off the back of our property directly onto the track.  Many folks are taking advantage of the track daily, summer and winter, and someone is always walking by or zooming by on their bicycle.  When I was a boy some of us would hop the train and go to school as the tracks ran right below the school in the center of Peoria Heights.  We weren’t terribly bright at the time in our lives.
